Rhythm & Rhyme
cafe & venue
The objective was to design a brand identity and packaging for a Hip-Hop inspired cafe and venue.
I wanted the designs to communicate Hip-Hop’s bold sound and deep messages. I then took a modern approach that incorporated the history of the genre, such as the art, style, and dance.

WHY R&R?
Hip Hop’s influences came from other genres like Jazz, Soul, Blues, and R&B. The venue's name comes from the genre’s style, Rhythm and Rhyme. The logos were created using the custom font I created for this project, Herc (named after the creator of Hip-Hop himself). It's inspired by the music's boldness and the popular art style that surrounded the early Hip-Hop scene.
The color palette consists of white and black with pops of orange and blue throughout. I chose blue and orange not just because they complement each other, but blue to honor the Blues, a genre that inspired Hip-Hop, and the deep messages in both genres. And orange to represent the energetic dancing and bold style of Hip-Hop.
